The Art of George Calle

It is for me a true honor and at the same time a challenge to speak of an Artist as versatile as he is. George Calle that is not only an aesthete, also a scientist and an investigator. An artist who does not let himself classify because he proposes constantly. Its arduous and direct experimentation with the materials is his better and greater patrimony, the metals that dominate their allied majors.

He is a master in the assembly and his three-dimensional works are the combination of all the previous ones, always with that masterful simplicity and that facility to handle and to solve the most complicated abstractionisms. Its work is sober, it would be possible to be said that very elegant, and quite enigmatic. Bases much of his work in numerical codes, alphabetical keys, and linear symbols with which it invites to discover to us much more than what can be seen at first. The scientism of this valuable artist is present in many of its creations in which the iridescence by means of the light creates a magical effect and of movement before the presence and by consequence of the movement of the spectator.

The use of technology of end like the laser, metallic laminate like aluminum, copper, etc and other noble materials where the artist looks for and finds magical chemical reactions. Works manipulated with abrasive techniques to create the effects of controlled sparkles and their certainty in which it wants to obtain as much, make of George a unique artist with an own and very personal iconography in his bi dimensional work as in his sculptural work and multiple assemblies. The “Medium” as handling of means and materials has a very important paper it takes that us to a par excellence of contemporary reading and of very good technical level. It combines this good handling of the technique, with a sober conceptual sustenance, personal opening the doors to him to new and novel aesthetic, a pioneering one in the art of vanguard and possibly from my point of view, a visionary art to fit the future with proposals of and World-wide Art of the next generations.

For George with sincerity and admiration,
